Vaughan Self Priming Chopper Pump Solves Winery Waste Problem

The Vaughan name is widely becoming accepted as the ultimate solution for solving difficult solids handling pumping problems in both municipal and industrial processing environments. The newly introduced self-priming range utilises the same proven and patented design of other Vaughan chopper pumps with a hardened impeller, cutter bar and upper cutter which allows the pump to chop and pump solids laden waste material without the risk of clogging.
Pump Systems Ltd have recently supplied a Vaughan self-priming chopper pump to a large New Zealand wine company for pumping wastewater from an underground tank where solids material such as leaves, wine bottle tops, pieces of string, plastic caps and strapping caused clogging problems for the existing pumps. Installation of the Vaughan pump meant that existing suction screens could be removed, which have only caused problems in the past by getting clogged or “blanketed” with leaves and other debris.
Vaughan self-priming chopper pumps are available in four sizes with suctions and discharges up to 250mm. They are ideally suited for applications in all types of processing industries and local authority wastewater treatment plants where traditional submersible and surface pumps in pump stations suffer continual clogging problems and pipework blockages. Using a Vaughan self-priming chopper pump will allow for solids in the waste stream such as rag, rope, gloves, mop heads, bags, spoons, cardboard, wire, wood, metal strapping, meat wastes, offal, vegetables, chicken and turkey feathers, fish waste, scum and sludge to be handled with ease.
